A foot x-ray is the only way to properly diagnose this condition. With an x-ray, your doctor can confirm that a heel spur has developed. Treatments vary from elevating the foot to much more serious solutions like foot surgery. Many people are able to lessen inflammation by applying gentle heat to the heel. By increasing the circulation, the blood vessels dilate and the pain lessens. Many people discover that simply wearing orthotics can provide significant relief. These devices provide additional arch support and can help correct over-pronation. By reducing the stress on the Plantar Fascia, the tissues in the foot are allowed to heal properly.

The next crucial thing to do is immediately put on a comfortable pair of shoes and orthotic shoe insoles. This will help to cushion and support the bottom of your foot and help to keep it from more injury. If you utilize the proper plantar fasciitis stretching exercises and arch support inserts, you will see a great improvement in your heel pain. You should really pay attention to your body and if you are aware of foot pain, talk to a doctor as soon as possible. This will ensure that your pain does not become a more serious issue.

Shoe inserts come in a variety of styles for your favorite shoes , even slides or peep-toes! They offer a light cushion to the areas of your foot under the most pressure when you're on your feet. Let's face it ladies, our feet weren't meant to take the kind of torture that we put them through all in the name of fashion. With some sneaky inserts , we don't have to suffer for beauty anymore. Shoe inserts help support and soothe tired feet and may prevent more serious foot conditions in the future. And with such a wide variety available, anyone can afford to feel as good as they look.

A good exercise that you can perform before sitting up is to stretch your foot by moving it up and down ten times. An alternative exercise you should do while sitting is to roll a rolling pin or tennis ball with the arch of your foot. Once you can, move on to doing this shoe inserts exercise as you are standing up. After these exercises, put on your shoes with arch support inserts inside them, or wear supportive sandals. Don’t start the day walking without shoes on hard floors or tiles, or it can be guaranteed that your heel pain will come back.

There are some very simple things you can do for heel pain. If you are a runner or do high impact aerobics , cut back on your workouts, at least temporarily. Ask your doctor about using inserts for your shoes called orthotics that help support your feet. If you are overweight, try losing a few pounds to relieve some of the pressure on your feet. If you have to stand for long periods of time, place some type of padding on the floor where you are standing. This helps to provide a cushion to lesson your heel pain.

You need to use the best shoes for plantar fasciitis because correct arch support is very essential for healing and to get relief from acute pain. Shoes with solid arch support and orthotics are necessary in case of running shoes. Arch support depends on the person's foot arch (a person can have a flat arch or a high arch). It also depends on the way a person walks. One can consult a podiatrist to find out if there are any irregularities in his/her gait. The podiatrist might recommend orthotics customized to suit a particular person's requirements. It will also help the person to walk in a correct manner.

Prescription orthotics, on the other hand, will actually alter foot structure, especially when that structure is deformed because of flat feet. These thermoplastic inserts are made by taking a plaster impression of the foot, while holding the foot in a corrected position. Not only do the inserts that are made from this impression match the individual foot contours exactly, they also match the foot as it should normally be positioned without excessive rotation. The foot is therefore stabilized in this position, and any abnormal pressure due to abnormal foot structure is significantly reduced.

The inflammation caused by the heel spur can be relieved by placing a flaxseed heat pack over the affected area. Performing some stretching exercises like rolling a tennis or golf ball under your feet is also helpful to lessen the inflammation. Apply heat to your heel for 20 minutes two times daily with a heat pack. Cabbage leaves can also help you get rid of the heel spur pain. Place fresh green cabbage leaves over you heel and leave it on there for sometime. The pain and inflammation can also be eased by soaking your feet in chlorinated water.

They easily slide into any of the shoes that you want and are comfortable to wear. You can wear them with anything and anytime that you want to look taller and feel better wherever you go knowing that you look taller and have the best kind of insoles to wear.

Heel pain is usually felt in two main sections of the heel, under the heel and in the back of the heel. In most cases, when people suffer from pain in the back of the heel it is related to overuse or inflammation of the Achilles tendon. When people suffer from plantar fasciitis pain, it can be caused by a person stepping on a large stone or rock which bruises the heel, or it can be caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia. A heel that is hurt by a sharp object will heal on its own over time.

Luckily, this disorder is usually curable via the use of plantar fasciitis shoe inserts Using plantar fasciitis shoe inserts is one of the most familiar ways to combat this problem. These are basically independent shoe insoles which you can acquire to insert into your shoe to replace the existing insoles. The primary difference between these kinds of insoles and the ordinary kinds can be found within the design and construction of the insert. Those built exclusively for this condition typically possess better arches and grooves whilst those that you find inside your regular shoes tend to be flat.

When searching for plantar fasciitis inserts, one of the most important things to take into account would be the comfortableness it offers. You do not want to get one that is too hard as the feet would feel very not comfortable. On the other hand, you do not want one that is too soft as it might not provide you with the support that you need. Getting one that is moderately firm is a better solution to use. With the internet, it's very simple to find testimonials on each and every orthotic that may help you choose the perfect one to get.

Stiff sole- the sole of the shoe needs to be stiff to resist foot collapse. Many shoes are highly flexible, and this does not help stabilize a flat foot. When examining a shoe for purchase, try to bend the sole of the shoe. If it bends towards the middle of heel lifts the shoe, then the shoe is too flexible. If the sole bends near the toes or the ball of the foot, then the shoe will be more supportive. Also, try to twist the shoe. Grab the front and back of the shoe and try to twist and wring it like a drying towel.

If you experience severe heel pain when you take the first few steps in the morning, you must consult a podiatrist soon. It's possible that you might be suffering from plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is one of the common foot problems that causes heel pain. This condition is caused due to an inflamed plantar fascia, a thick band of connective tissue that covers the bone at the bottom of the foot. This inflammatory condition could be caused due to a wide range of reasons. People who are born with certain structural foot deformities such as flat feet or high arches might also experience heel pain.

Stretching the calf muscles is an important part to reducing plantar fascia tension. The calf muscles, including the gastroc and soleus, attach to the back of the heel. Tension from these muscles pulls back on the heel, causing tension on the plantar fascia. A great way to stretch the calf the first thing in the morning, before you take your first steps, is to hook a towel on the ball of your foot and while keeping the knee straight pull back on the towel. Hold the stretch for a minimum of 30 seconds and repeat a few times.

When you go in to see your podiatrist about the pain in the bottom of your heel, be sure to come prepared to answer questions (and ask questions of your own, of course). Your doctor will probably want to know a history of your symptoms and will perform a physical exam of your foot to check for swelling and redness. He or she may also check for tenderness on the foot to find out where the pain is coming from. You may need to get X-rays to check for other possible sources of your pain (such as stress fractures).

Apple cider vinegar is an effective home remedy. Dip a cotton towel or cotton bandage in apple cider vinegar, fold it up and place it on your heel. Secure the towel or bandage in place with tape. Wear it regularly for a few days. Make a mixture of apple cider vinegar, molasses, and baking soda and rub it on your heel spur. Applying ice to the heel and massaging the area with coconut oil are also good home remedies. A best way to reduce the pain and discomfort associated with this bony growth is to immerse your feet in a warm bath of Epsom salts.

Edward Snowden sees 'no chance' for fair trial in US - The Times of India
WASHINGTON: Fugitiveintelligence leaker Edward Snowden has said that he has no plans to return to the United States, because he would have "no chance" for a fair trial.
"The hundred-year old law under which I've been charged... forbids a public interest defence," he said in a question-and-answer session on the "Free Snowden" website on Thursday.

"This is especially frustrating, because it means there's no chance to have a fair trial, and no way I can come home and make my case to a jury," he said.

The comments during the former National Security Agency contractor's first such public forum since June.

Snowden was asked about the conditions under which he would return to the United States, where he faces espionage charges for leaking numerous documents aboutNSA surveillance programs.

"Returning to the US, I think, is the best resolution for the government, the public, and myself, but it's unfortunately not possible in the face of current whistleblower protection laws, which, through a failure in law, did not cover national security contractors like myself," he said.

"Maybe when Congress comes together to end the programs... they'll reform the Whistleblower Protection Act, and we'll see a mechanism for all Americans, no matter who they work for, to get a fair trial."

His comments came hours after a US government privacy watchdog panel said the NSA's indiscriminate collection of bulk phone records is illegal and has had minimal value in fighting terrorism.

Also yesterday, US Attorney General Eric Holder said he was unlikely to consider clemency for Snowden.

Holder told MSNBC television US authorities "would engage in conversation" about a resolution of the case if Snowden accepted responsibility for leaking government secrets.

But he said granting clemency "would be going too far."

VC Chamath Palihapitiya Says He's Cracked the Growth Code - Liz Gannes - News - AllThingsD

All startups want growth. They want more eyeballs, more traction, more signs that what they are doing is working. They worship at the foot of the mythical hockey stick graph. But growth is a fickle, unpredictable thing -- sometimes great products die before reaching an audience. Sometimes companies find tricks to get tons of users, but after the tricks fade away, everybody leaves. You can't count on growth.

chamath_palihapitiyaNot according to Chamath Palihapitiya. The venture capitalist, whose claim to fame was starting the growth team at Facebook, said his Social+Capital Partnership now has a crew of growth experts that it deploys to portfolio companies. And he claims they can make just about anything grow.

Palihapitiya wants growth to be the main attraction of taking money from his firm. So he's starting to put together case studies from fledgling companies like the texting-for-teachers startup Remind101, which now has 10 million users, up from 1.6 million last year. Teachers, students and now parents send 65 million messages per month using Remind101, up from 15 million last year.

Palihapitiya and Remind101 attribute that growth to three Social+Capital team members who've been helping out the company multiple days per week: Ray Ko, an operating partner responsible for analytics and data science who formerly worked on such projects at Facebook; Andy Artz, who drives the day-to-day product roadmap and previously led analytics for OMGPOP's Draw Something during its steep growth; and James Wang, who was in charge of engineering after nearly seven years at Facebook.

And not only does Palihapitiya want to brag about his own team, he wants to trash other people's.

"This is going to come off a little cocky, but all this 'growth hacking' stuff is a bunch of bullshit," Palihapitiya said in an interview this week. "I do think there are a handful of folks who are good practitioners of understanding value in product, probably 10 to 15 of them in the world. Everyone else is a spammer."

Remind101messaging
The Social+Capital growth team started working with Remind101 in June 2013. It's odd that the axes aren't labeled in this chart, because the company disclosed them for the story.

Of course, Palihapitiya wants to get credit for cracking the code without sharing his answer key.

"It's not just top-line growth," he said. "It's acquisition, engagement, ongoing product value. It's understanding the core value and convincing people that may not want to use it."

So would this formula work for an enterprise business? Possibly. Palihapitiya said he's confident the Social+Capital growth framework will apply to any company that needs consumer adoption or uses Internet marketing. A medical device startup? Probably not.

For Remind101, some key jumps in growth came from optimizing the signup process and measuring what happened to engagement afterward, said VP of product Aditya Bansod. Which, to be fair, is exactly the sort of stuff other "growth hackers" talk about.

Also, isn't it possible that Remind101 was just a good product that started naturally finding users?

"It's hard to figure out what stuff is causative and what is correlative," Palihapitiya admitted. "But most companies are working on something that's interesting and good. If we decide this is something that should go to the masses, we think there's a framework we can use."

Okay, but surely this can't be a formula with a guarantee. How does Social+Capital explain its investments that have failed to grow?

"Some companies that we invested in sucked," Palihapitiya said. "We were wrong about the market, wrong about the people. But in cases where we were kind of right, then we'll be really right."

Paul McCartney And Third Wife Celebrate Anniversary In NY

The Inquisitr

Paul McCartney was at a New York high school on Wednesday to celebrate his second wedding anniversary with his wife, Nancy Shevell, and a few hundred students.

He gave a surprise performance at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, which was opened by Tony Bennett.

McCartney, 71, said, “Happy Anniversary, Baby,” to Nancy, before launching into his latest song, entitled “New.” He said that it was his wife who had been the inspiration for the song. McCartney’s album, also called “New,” is due for release next week.

When McCartney was asked by a student when he felt he had officially entered the music industry, McCartney replied that it was when the Beatles recorded their first single, “Love Me Do.”

The crowd of students and adults became excited when McCartney performed 13 songs including “Hey Jude,” ”Eight Days a Week”, and “Jet.” These had been selected from his Beatles and Wings albums, and from his solo catalog.

McCartney told the audience, “this beats going to class.”

He was asked why he wanted to continue being a musician after enjoying so much success and receiving so many accolades, and why didn’t he retire. ” I say, ‘Thank you very much. No,’ ” he said.

Tony Bennett, who was present at the event, was responsible for launching the school in Queens in 2001. McCartney spoke about the school that he and George Harrison had once attended in Liverpool, England, “I used to say that half of the Beatles went to that school.”

McCartney also mentioned that this day would have been John Lennon’s 73rd birthday, While it is true that he connected with Lennon through songwriting, their personal relationship deteriorated after the Beatles split up, especially following Lennon’s link-up with Yoko Ono.

But Paul McCartney is not living in the past, and he intends to continue entertaining audiences far into the future.
